The Ghana Police Service has arrested 89 individuals in connection with various offences committed during the 2024 general elections.

In a statement on Monday, December 9, the police confirmed that 40 of the suspects are directly linked to acts of vandalism, looting, and property destruction. All the suspects will face legal action and be brought before the courts.

The arrests are part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the aftermath of the elections. While incidents of looting and vandalism have been limited, authorities remain on high alert.

The police have issued a stern warning to the public, stressing that anyone engaging in violent acts will be arrested and prosecuted. Key security measures currently in place include increased patrols, intelligence-led operations, and static security at key state facilities.

A special investigation team is also reviewing videos and other evidence to identify perpetrators. The police thanked Ghanaians for their support during the election process and reassured the public that safety and security will be maintained.
