The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the ransacking of the home and office of Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West and Minister for Communications and Digitalisation.

The incident occurred shortly after Owusu-Ekuful lost her parliamentary seat in the 2024 general elections. Reports suggest that unknown individuals broke into both her residence and office, causing extensive damage. Videos circulating on social media show the aftermath, with documents scattered and furniture overturned.

The motive for the attack remains unclear, raising concerns about the safety of political figures following the election.

The police have condemned the act and assured the public that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible. They have also called for anyone with information to assist in the investigation.

In a related development, the police have urged the public to disregard false claims of vandalism at the NPP office in Kasoa.

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has called for calm, urging supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to refrain from engaging in unlawful activities.
