The Ghana Police Service has suspended Detective Corporal Baba Amando Ibrahim, stationed at Tuna Police Station in the Savannah Region, following a viral video that allegedly shows him assaulting a civilian.

The officer’s suspension is aimed at allowing a thorough investigation into the incident, in line with the Police Service’s regulations.

In a statement, the Police Service confirmed that Inspector-General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare has personally contacted the victim’s family, offering support and assuring them of a fair resolution to the matter.

The IGP has also instructed the Savannah Regional Police Commander to work closely with the family to address the situation.
