The Ghana Police Service has successfully recovered a Nissan Pick-Up truck stolen from the office of Ursula Owusu, the outgoing Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West.

The vehicle was taken on Monday, December 9, by unidentified individuals who raided the offices of Owusu, who recently lost her parliamentary seat to Rev. Kweku Addo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December 2024 elections. Along with the truck, the assailants also stole three motorbikes and other valuables.

At a press briefing on Thursday, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Head of the Police Public Affairs Directorate, confirmed that the vehicle had been recovered and is currently at the Dansoman Police Station. Investigations are ongoing, with efforts to apprehend those responsible for the theft.

The police also reported that 17 additional arrests have been made in connection with attacks on offices, bringing the total number of arrests related to post-election violence to 123. Authorities are continuing their search for suspects involved in recent vandalism of police stations in Techiman (Bono East Region) and Wenchi (Bono Region).

“We are committed to bringing those responsible to justice,” ACP Ansah-Akrofi said. “For those still on the run, we urge you to consider how long you can keep evading the law. We are coming for you.”

Amid rising attacks on government offices, the Ghana Police Service reassured public sector workers of their safety, encouraging them to resume work. The Head of Civil Service issued a directive on Wednesday advising Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to take precautionary measures and temporarily close offices if staff feel at risk.
