All political parties and presidential candidates contesting Ghana’s December 7 elections will gather today, Thursday, November 28, to sign a peace pact aimed at ensuring a peaceful electoral process.
The agreement, facilitated by the National Peace Council, will require candidates to pledge to uphold peace before, during, and after the elections.
Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, Chairman of the National Peace Council, expressed confidence that all parties would participate in the signing ceremony. Speaking to Citi News, he stated: “We believe all parties will be present. We have received commitments from all of them, and a copy of the pact has been shared for review. To date, we have not received any negative responses.”
The signing of the peace pact is a significant step toward fostering a peaceful and orderly election in Ghana, as the country prepares for its upcoming presidential and parliamentary polls.
