President John Dramani Mahama has ordered the dissolution of all statutory boards, commissions, and councils appointed by the previous administration of Nana Akufo-Addo. The decision, which takes effect immediately, is part of a wider restructuring effort following Mahama’s return to office.
The directive, issued in accordance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), informs members of the affected bodies that their tenures ended on January 7, 2025, when Mahama was sworn in as president.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President, clarified that independent constitutional bodies are exempt from the dissolution. The boards and commissions will be re-established in due course, as per their respective enabling laws.
Mahama’s swift action follows his victory in the December 2024 elections, marking a shift in policy and governance from the previous administration.
