President John Dramani Mahama has directed the immediate suspension of all transactions involving the sale, lease, or processing of state and public lands.
The directive, issued on 10 January 2025 through a letter from the Office of the President, instructs the Lands Commission to halt any ongoing dealings related to state lands. The move aims to safeguard public lands for the benefit of both current and future generations.
Signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, the President’s Secretary, the letter also calls for the Lands Commission to provide a detailed report of all recent and pending land transactions within 14 days.
This decision marks the beginning of the Mahama administration’s commitment to reclaim improperly acquired state assets, a promise that resonated with many voters during the 2024 elections.
