Mahama Appoints Kofi Boakye as Director of Security Operations,Prosper Bani as National Security Advisor

President John Dramani Mahama has announced a series of strategic appointments aimed at reinforcing the nation’s security framework. The appointments, which reflect a commitment to safeguarding citizens and enhancing operational efficiency, were detailed in a statement by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President.

Former Chief of Staff Prosper Douglas Bani has been appointed as the National Security Advisor. Bani, who also served as Minister for the Interior, is expected to bring a wealth of experience to the role. “Mr. Bani’s deep knowledge of security issues will provide invaluable guidance as we navigate the complex challenges facing our nation,” said Kwakye Ofosu.

DCOP Abdul-Osman Razak will serve as the National Security Coordinator, a role that requires harmonizing efforts across various security agencies. “Razak’s leadership will be crucial in ensuring a unified and effective security strategy,” the statement noted.

COP Nathan Kofi Boakye (Rtd.) has been appointed Director of Operations at the Presidency. With a storied career in law enforcement, Boakye will oversee the operational aspects of national security. “His expertise will ensure that our operational responses are swift and effective,” Kwakye Ofosu added.

Charles Kipo has been named Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), where he will lead efforts to enhance intelligence gathering and analysis. “Kipo’s appointment underscores our focus on strengthening intelligence capabilities to preempt and address security threats,” the statement emphasized.

“These appointments are a clear testament to President Mahama’s unwavering commitment to national security and the protection of all Ghanaians,” Kwakye Ofosu concluded.
