Ghanaian actor and politician Prince David Osei has responded firmly to critics following his support for his political party in the recent elections. In an exclusive interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Osei expressed his determination to defend himself against online attacks he has faced since making controversial comments about President-Elect John Dramani Mahama.
Osei, who recently faced backlash for a now-deleted post on his verified X account that referred to Mahama as a “drunkard,” stated, “One thing I know for sure is no man can kill me unless God allows it, but I’ll also defend myself because Ghana belongs to all of us and I’m not afraid of anybody.” He emphasized the importance of respecting differing political opinions, asserting that everyone has the right to their political affiliations.
The actor clarified that he did not personally post the insulting comment, explaining that during the aftermath of the elections, he had left his phone with friends and cousins while dealing with feelings of disappointment over the election results. “When I woke up, I saw reports that I had insulted the president. I checked my Twitter feed and found nothing. I then realized people were tagging me in comments that I did not write,” he said.
Osei mentioned that he reached out to his friends and family, who initially denied posting the comment about Mahama, but he believes their responses may have stemmed from provocations by aggressive online users. “I think when they responded to the person, they deleted it,” he noted.
Despite the controversy, Prince David Osei stated that his only post regarding the election was a congratulatory message to the incoming President and reiterated that it is not in his character to insult elders. He concluded with a call for peace and mutual respect among differing political ideologies in Ghana.
