Registration for MPs-Elect to Begin December 25

The registration process for Members of Parliament-elect for the 9th Parliament of Ghana’s 4th Republic is set to begin on December 25, 2024, Parliament has announced.

A statement issued on December 24 outlined that the registration will begin with an online exercise, followed by a physical registration from January 2 to 6, 2025.

Members-elect will receive targeted invitations via WhatsApp or email. Those requiring further assistance can contact the registration officers at the provided phone numbers.

The statement also noted that MPs-elect will be transported by bus from Parliament to Independence Square at 8:00 a.m. on January 6, ahead of key ceremonial events.

The schedule for the inauguration of the 9th Parliament is as follows:

Election and Swearing-In of Speaker and MPs-Elect:

Date: Monday, January 6, 2025

Time:

Speaker Election: 11:00 p.m.

Seating of Members: 9:00 p.m.

Swearing-in of Speaker and MPs-elect: Midnight

Swearing-In of President and Vice President-Elect:

Date: Tuesday, January 7, 2025

Time:

Ceremony: 10:00 a.m.

Members to be seated: 9:00 a.m.

Transport: MPs will be bussed to Independence Square at 8:00 a.m.
