The Member of Parliament for Asin South, Rev Ntim Fordjour, is reportedly facing imminent arrest over serious allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering involving foreign aircraft that recently landed in Ghana.
Benjamin Kofi Quashie, Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) South Africa branch, confirmed on Monday, April 7, that the process for Fordjour’s arrest is nearly complete. Speaking on JoyPrime’s News Flash, Quashie noted that the only hold-up is the absence of Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, who is currently out of the country. Quashie expressed confidence that the arrest would proceed upon Bagbin’s return.
Rev Fordjour, who also serves as the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, made the explosive allegations during a press conference. He claimed that several foreign aircraft arriving in Ghana were involved in illicit drug trade and money laundering activities. These allegations have sparked significant debate in both political and security circles.
While the government has rejected Fordjour’s claims, offering official explanations for the presence of the aircraft, the accusations have placed pressure on the MP to provide concrete evidence to support his allegations. The New Patriotic Party (NPP), to which Fordjour belongs, has backed the MP’s call for a thorough investigation into the matter.
The unfolding situation is expected to gain further attention once Speaker Bagbin returns, potentially leading to legal action against Rev Fordjour.
