Presidential Spokesperson,Felix Kwakye Ofosu says the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, did not breach any rules by gifting US dollars to Evangelist Patricia Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.

Mr.  Felix Kwakye Ofosu told Citi FM’s Eyewitness News that the gesture, which has sparked public debate, does not violate the official Code of Conduct for public officials.

“There is no specific provision in the Code of Conduct that prohibits giving money to someone,” he said. “For an action to be punishable, it must clearly contravene a defined rule.”

A video showing Mr Gyamfi handing money to Nana Agradaa circulated widely on social media, prompting criticism and calls for disciplinary action. But Mr Kwakye Ofosu insisted the Code does not consider such gifts improper unless they are tied to undue influence or corruption.

He added that even if the act were deemed questionable, the response outlined by the Code has already been followed.

“In the unlikely event it was a breach, the Code allows for a public apology or a caution from the presidency,” he said. “Both have been carried out.”

The presidency has since stated that the matter is considered resolved.
