Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has referred three of President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial nominees to the Appointments Committee for consideration.

The nominees include Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson for Finance Minister, John Jinapor for Minister of Energy, and Dominic Ayine for Attorney-General and Minister of Justice. The nominations were officially submitted by the President on January 9, 2025.

Speaker Bagbin informed lawmakers, saying, “I have received on your behalf a message from the office of the President… I will accordingly refer the nominees to the Appointments Committee for consideration and report to the house.”

In response, Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh urged the nominees to adequately prepare for the vetting process, warning that the committee would not treat the process lightly. “We want to caution your nominees to come prepared,” he said.
