The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has disbursed GH₵510.21 million in pension payments to 253,601 pensioners for January 2025. The disbursement, which took place on January 16, represents a 12% increase in monthly pension payouts, marking the latest adjustment under the Trust’s annual indexation process.

The pension increment, made in consultation with the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), aligns with Section 80 of the National Pensions Act, 2008 (Act 766). The increase comes as part of SSNIT’s ongoing commitment to providing timely and reliable support to retirees.

For January 2025, the highest pension under PNDC Law 247 reached GH₵201,792.37, while the lowest amount for existing pensioners was GH₵396.58. In contrast, pensions under Act 766 saw the highest monthly payout at GH₵28,703.01, with the minimum for new pensioners set at GH₵300.

In comparison, December 2024 saw SSNIT disburse GH₵454.05 million to 252,766 pensioners, with the highest monthly pension under PNDC Law 247 at GH₵186,777.58 and the lowest at GH₵409.10. For Act 766, the highest monthly pension was GH₵26,506.66, with the minimum remaining at GH₵300.

SSNIT has announced that the next pension payment is scheduled for February 20, 2025, and continues to encourage workers to ensure their full earnings are insured with the Trust to secure a sustainable pension upon retirement.
