Stonebwoy Wins Artiste of the Year at Ghana Music Awards UK 2024

Renowned Dancehall/Reggae artist Stonebwoy, born Livingstone Etsa Satekla, has been crowned Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards UK 2024, solidifying his status as a global music icon.

The star-studded ceremony, held on Saturday, November 30, at the Meridian Grand in London, brought together a host of prominent Ghanaian music figures, including King Ayisoba, Fuse ODG, Mr Drew, and Akosua Agyapong.

Stonebwoy also took home the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year award. The evening was filled with tributes and accolades, with legendary singer Akosua Agyepong receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Ofori Amponsah and Mark Darlington honoured with Special Honoree Awards.

The event, originally scheduled for October 29, was postponed to November 30 due to unforeseen circumstances, with notable absentee Sarkodie unable to attend.

Other award winners included King Promise, who was named Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste of the Year, and King Paluta, who won New Artiste of the Year. Nacee was recognised as Gospel Artiste of the Year, while Fameye received the Songwriter of the Year award for his song Not God.

Producer of the Year: Killbeatz – Terminator by King Promise

Lifetime Achievement Award: Akosua Agyepong

Special Honouree Awards: Ofori Amponsah, Mark Darlington

Additional honours recognised UK-based artists, with UK-Based Artiste of the Year awarded to Charles Kalah for Police, and UK-Based Best DJ of the Year going to DJ FiiFii.

The event celebrated Ghana’s music talent across diverse genres, further underscoring the global influence of Ghanaian music.
