Hiplife pioneer Reggie Rockstone has weighed in on the ongoing public debate surrounding the struggles of fellow musician Okomfour Kwadee, urging Ghanaians to offer support rather than placing blame on the music industry.
Kwadee, who has faced significant personal challenges in recent years, has sparked widespread concern, with many accusing organizations such as MUSIGA and GHAMRO of neglecting him. In an Instagram post addressing the issue, Rockstone expressed frustration with the public’s tendency to point fingers at the industry, emphasizing the need for collective action rather than blame.
“While it’s easy to point fingers at the music industry, we should be asking ourselves what we are doing to help,” Rockstone said. “The public needs to do more than just talk—what are you actually doing?”
Known as the “Grandfather of Hiplife,” Rockstone highlighted the need for compassion and community support, noting that he himself has worked to assist those in need. He also reminded the public of Kwadee’s contributions to the music industry, saying, “For years, this man made beautiful music for you. If anyone should be emotional, it should be you.”
Rockstone further revealed that efforts are underway to assist Kwadee behind the scenes, with a focus on addressing the complexities of the artist’s situation. He called for fans to contribute in meaningful ways, including offering prayers and financial support where possible.
Kwadee, best known for his hits such as Abrantie and Ofie Nipa, has spent time in rehabilitation centers and is currently staying with his family in the Upper East Region.
Rockstone’s comments serve as a call for greater empathy and action from both the public and the music community in supporting Kwadee during this challenging period.
