British rapper Stormzy has been banned from driving for nine months after being caught using a mobile phone while driving his Rolls-Royce in London. The 31-year-old, whose real name is Michael Ebenezer Owuo Junior, was spotted by an undercover officer on Addison Road in West Kensington in March 2023.

Stormzy pleaded guilty to the offence in a letter submitted to Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court. District Judge Andrew Sweet criticised the rapper’s behaviour as “dangerous and irresponsible,” especially given his prior history of speeding offences, which had already earned him six penalty points.

The court heard that the officer approached Stormzy’s vehicle and warned him about both the phone use and the tinted windows. Stormzy’s solicitor confirmed that the rapper accepted full responsibility for his actions.

This incident adds to Stormzy’s growing list of driving-related issues. In October 2023, he was stopped while driving a Lamborghini Urus with illegally tinted front windows, which allowed only 4% light transmission—well below the legal requirement of 70%. Prosecutor Alice Holloway described the vehicle’s condition as a risk to “vulnerable road users.”

In addition to the driving ban, Stormzy was fined £2,010. He did not attend court for the hearing. Judge Sweet remarked on the rapper’s “not good” driving record, highlighting the repeated concerns surrounding his conduct behind the wheel.
