Tsunami warning cancelled after 7.0 earthquake hits off California coast

What we know:

  • A strong 7.0 magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of northern California, according to the US Geological Survey
  • A tsunami warning was issued but has since been cancelled
  • Multiple aftershocks have been reported since the initial earthquake, which struck about 11:00 local time (19:00 GMT)
  • More than 10,000 people are without power in California’s Humboldt County
  • No deaths or injuries have been reported as a result of the quake
