The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has postponed the investiture ceremony of its incoming Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, which was scheduled for Friday, December 27, 2024.
An official statement from the university’s registrar confirmed the postponement, though a new date for the ceremony has not yet been announced.
“The general public is hereby informed that the investiture ceremony of Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor as Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, originally scheduled for December 27, 2024, has been postponed. A new date will be communicated in due course,” the statement read. “We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.”
The statement did not specify the reasons for the postponement, but sources suggest that recent legal challenges may be linked to the delay. Reports indicate that Rashid Ibrahim, a UPSA alumnus, has filed a court injunction aimed at halting the investiture, citing concerns over Professor Mawutor’s academic promotion.
