Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, has lost her seat to Rev. Kweku Addo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The defeat marks a significant shift in the constituency, reflecting growing support for the NDC in the area. Owusu-Ekuful, a prominent figure in the NPP, had represented Ablekuma West since 2012.

In other developments, several NPP heavyweights also lost their seats in the 2024 elections. Henry Quartey lost his Ayawaso Central seat to Abdul Rauf Tubazu of the NDC, while Farouk Aliu Mahama, the NPP MP for Yendi, was defeated by Abdul-Fataw Alhassan of the NDC. Provisional results from the collation centre show Alhassan secured 30,707 votes, while Mahama garnered 29,819.
