The Ghana Education Service (GES) has placed Adams Mahama Issahaku, headmaster of Piina Senior High School in the Upper West Region, under immediate interdiction following an investigation into allegations of food smuggling.
The move comes after food items were reportedly found in Mr. Issahaku’s official vehicle while he was en route from Piina SHS to Wa on February 6, 2025. The decision to suspend him was made by the Director-General of GES and communicated in a letter dated February 7, signed by Razak Z. Abdul-Korah, the Regional Director of GES for Upper West.

The GES emphasized that the interdiction is a procedural action and does not imply guilt. A full investigation is underway, with the service assuring that all findings will be shared with relevant parties.
Mr. Issahaku has been instructed to hand over the school’s administration to the Upper West Regional Director of Education and to cooperate fully with the investigation. He is also urged to avoid actions that could disrupt the ongoing inquiry.
The GES reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability, calling for full cooperation from all parties involved to ensure the integrity of the process.
