Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is poised to return to office after a period of medical leave, President John Mahama announced Friday during a public address in Dodowa, in the Greater Accra Region.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, who reportedly fell ill on March 28 and was admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre the following day, began a medically advised three-week leave starting April 7. She subsequently traveled abroad for further treatment as a precautionary measure.

Speaking during his nationwide “Thank You Tour,” Mr.Mahama said the Vice President has made a full recovery and is expected to return to Ghana before the end of next week.

“I spoke to her yesterday morning. By God’s grace, she is fully recovered and ready to return to her duties,” Mahama told supporters.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s return is anticipated to inject renewed energy into the administration’s agenda, as she resumes official responsibilities following several weeks of recuperation.

Her absence had marked a temporary pause in her active role within the government, but aides say key functions of the Vice President’s office remained operational under delegated authority.
