Vigil to honour late actor Mawuli Semevo at National Theatre on March 27

A vigil will be held at the National Theatre of Ghana to celebrate the life and legacy of the late Mawuli Yao Semevo. The event, titled A Night to Remember Mawuli Yao Semevo, is scheduled for Thursday, 27 March 2025, at 6:30 PM in the main auditorium of the Theatre.

Mr. Semevo, who passed away on 20 February 2025, succumbed to injuries from a fire incident at Ridge Hospital. He was widely regarded for his exceptional acting talent, both on stage and in film. His extensive body of work includes roles in Harvest at 17, A Stab in the Dark, Escape of Love, Like Cotton Twines, and The Good Old Days: The Love of AA.

The tribute event will bring together prominent figures from Ghana’s arts and culture community to honour Semevo’s contributions to the industry. The evening will feature performances, tributes, and storytelling sessions, celebrating the impact of a man whose dedication helped shape the country’s performing arts scene.
