The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has denied rumours that it plans to move its headquarters from Ghana to Nigeria.

Recent media reports had suggested that financial difficulties, including the Ghanaian government’s indebtedness to WAEC, were straining the organisation’s operations and prompting discussions about a possible relocation.

However, WAEC’s Head of Public Relations, John Kapi, has refuted these claims, clarifying that no such decision has been made.

“There has been no discussion in this direction. The law that established WAEC specifies that the headquarters will remain in Accra, and there has been no change to this arrangement,” Kapi stated. “Therefore, we can confirm that there are no plans for relocation.”
