The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released all results from the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) that had been previously withheld due to suspected examination malpractices.
Over 10,000 results were initially withheld, with WAEC pledging to release them by February 28. The move follows a legal dispute and mounting pressure from the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), which had threatened nationwide protests.
Speaking to Citi News, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, confirmed that no results remain pending, including those involved in the legal dispute. He stated, “As promised, we have uploaded all results of candidates whose results were previously withheld.”
He added that the decision to release the results followed a court order and assured that the results reflect the true performance of the candidates.
The results were made available at the end of February, with Kapi suggesting that some candidates may still be awaiting responses as they begin to contact the office in the days following the release.
This marks the end of a prolonged issue that had raised concerns among students and educational stakeholders in Ghana.
