The Krontihene of Akyem Asoum, Nana Boadi Amponim Abodade III, has publicly criticised outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration, expressing disappointment in his leadership. Speaking in an interview with GHOne, Nana Abodade III questioned Akufo-Addo’s performance, suggesting that the president could have achieved far more given the resources and revenue available during his tenure.

The traditional leader voiced his relief that Akufo-Addo’s term was coming to an end, and he expressed support for the incoming president, John Dramani Mahama.

“We thank God that the good Lord is about to give the mantle to President Mahama,” Nana Abodade III said. “Ghana has been stripped naked and Ghana is bleeding. The robbers have stolen all the goodies, so a good Samaritan has come to rescue her and put her in a good, healthy, and happy situation and also recover the loot that the robbers took.”

The Krontihene also criticised Akufo-Addo’s alleged disregard for the nation’s traditional leaders. “It was quite clear, but people couldn’t just realise it, and some of us are happy that his reign is over,” he said, adding that many chiefs shared his sentiments. “A good friend of mine who is also a chief told me one day, ‘Let’s see if he will come around and instruct chiefs to wake up to greet him.’”

Nana Abodade III concluded his remarks by stating, “It is not a good legacy. He could have done more. He had so much revenue, he had so much he could have done for this country, and so we pray we don’t get another Akufo-Addo to be president of Ghana.”
