President-elect John Mahama has vowed to address corruption, reduce government spending, and correct the “wrongdoings” of the outgoing administration as part of his leadership priorities.

In his New Year message for 2025, Mahama outlined his commitment to restoring integrity and efficiency in governance. He promised to work tirelessly to address the challenges left by the current government, including tackling corruption and curbing excessive expenditures.

“We will correct the many wrongs of the outgoing administration, fight corruption relentlessly, and ensure a more efficient government,” Mahama said.

The President-elect also detailed plans to revitalise Ghana’s economy, with a focus on growth and job creation. He unveiled his 24-hour economy policy, aiming to transform the country into an export-driven economy, while promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.

“Together, we will create an environment that supports entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable development, giving our youth the opportunity to thrive here in Ghana,” Mahama added.

Emphasising a lean and efficient government, Mahama pledged to build an administration that listens to the aspirations of all Ghanaians, with a focus on accountability and inclusiveness.

He particularly addressed the youth, recognising them as vital to Ghana’s future, and called on them to channel their energy and creativity into national development.

In his message to business owners and entrepreneurs, Mahama assured them that his government would remove barriers to growth and simplify processes to encourage entrepreneurship and job creation.

“To the business community, my administration is committed to supporting your efforts to create jobs and wealth by removing obstacles and providing the resources you need to grow your businesses,” he said.

Mahama urged Ghanaians to embrace unity and optimism as the nation embarks on a path of transformation, stressing his dedication to creating a Ghana of opportunities, equity, and shared prosperity.

He expressed confidence in fulfilling his campaign promises and building a prosperous future for the country.
