106 Arrested Over Post-Election Disturbances in Ghana

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of nine more individuals in connection with the recent arson attack on the Electoral Commission office in Ayensuano, Eastern Region, bringing the total number of suspects detained for election-related disturbances to 106.

All suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations into the violence and vandalism that erupted after the 2024 elections. The attack on the Electoral Commission office is one of several incidents of unrest, including invasions of National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) offices and Metro Mass Transit terminals.

The police have been actively pursuing those responsible for the disturbances, with a focus on ensuring accountability for the violence. All arrested individuals are undergoing legal processes as part of efforts to restore order and stability.

In a statement, the Ghana Police Service reassured the public of its commitment to maintaining peace and security across the country. It urged citizens to remain patient as investigations continue and called for cooperation in providing information to help bring perpetrators to justice.

The police reiterated their dedication to safeguarding communities and upholding the rule of law.
