A late-night gun attack at a popular drinking spot in the Binduri District of Ghana’s Upper East Region has left three people dead and three others injured. The shooting, which occurred on Sunday night, March 24, 2024, near the Binduri market, has shaken the local community.
Unidentified assailants reportedly arrived on motorbikes and opened fire on a group of people, killing three on the spot. The victims who were injured were quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
While the motive for the attack remains unclear, security sources are speculating that it may be tied to the ongoing Bawku chieftaincy conflict, which has been a source of intermittent violence in the region for years.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, with efforts underway to identify and apprehend those responsible. The attack has sparked concern among local residents, who are now calling for increased security measures and stronger efforts to prevent further violence in the district.
As fear grows in the area, many are urging government officials to take swift action to ensure the safety of the Binduri community and surrounding regions.
