A post-election survey conducted by Global InfoAnalytics has revealed that 68% of voters hold former President Nana Akufo-Addo responsible for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) loss in the 2024 general elections.
The poll, which gauges public opinion on the NPP’s defeat, indicates that a significant number of voters also attribute the party’s poor performance to key figures within the government.
Among those surveyed, 40% placed blame on former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, while 37% pointed to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate and former Vice President. A further 33% held Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh accountable, with 32% blaming other government appointees.
Additionally, 25% of respondents identified Members of Parliament as contributing factors to the party’s electoral setback.
The results suggest that voters linked the NPP’s defeat to the performance of the Akufo-Addo administration, with issues such as economic difficulties, governance concerns, and widespread public dissatisfaction playing a central role in shaping opinions.
In contrast, only 9% of respondents blamed Kennedy Agyapong, who contested the NPP primaries but did not lead the party into the election.
These findings reflect the complex nature of voter sentiment, highlighting the challenges the NPP faces as it seeks to rebuild after its electoral defeat.
