8 Killed, several injured in Bolgatanga-Walewale Highway crash

A deadly crash on the Bolgatanga-Walewale highway has claimed the lives of eight people and left several others injured. The incident occurred on Friday, 28th February 2025, near the village of Karimenga, in the Upper East Region of Ghana.

According to reports, a bus travelling from Kumasi to Bolgatanga collided with a container truck that was parked on the roadside. The impact of the crash resulted in the immediate deaths of eight passengers and left many others with severe injuries.

Local residents, along with emergency services from the Ghana National Fire Service, rushed to the scene to assist the victims. Five passengers were trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by rescuers. Tragically, three unidentified legs were also found at the scene.

The injured were quickly transported to the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga for treatment. The accident has left the local community in shock and mourning, underscoring the need for urgent improvements in road safety measures.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, while residents are calling for better road infrastructure and safety enforcement to prevent future tragedies.
