The Ghana Air Traffic Safety Electronics Association (GhATSEA) has suspended its planned nationwide strike, which was due to begin on Thursday, 30 October 2025.

In a statement signed by its president, Engr. David Annan Mensah, the association said it made the decision following what it described as “constructive and fruitful discussions” with the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) governing board and management.

The talks were aimed at addressing long-standing concerns over poor welfare conditions, inequitable job placements, and unresolved salary and welfare issues that the union says have persisted for more than 15 years.

“Following constructive engagement with the GCAA governing board and management, we have decided to suspend our planned strike action,” the statement read.

GhATSEA said it appreciated the efforts of all stakeholders involved in the negotiations and expressed optimism that the ongoing dialogue would result in a lasting resolution to the issues.

The association had earlier threatened to embark on an indefinite nationwide strike, raising fears of potential disruption to air navigation services across the country.

GhATSEA reassured the public and aviation stakeholders of its continued commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism in air traffic operations.

It also commended the Acting Director-General of the GCAA, Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur, and Acting Deputy Director-General (Technical), Mr Theophilus Aryee Ago, for their leadership during the negotiations.

The group thanked the media and the public for their patience and understanding during the period of industrial tension, saying it remained committed to ensuring the continued safe and efficient operation of Ghana’s airspace.
