Residents of Old Buipe in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region protested on October 15, 2024, over deteriorating roads and lack of essential social amenities. They highlighted the surge in accidents and robberies due to poor road conditions and criticized the District Chief Executive (DCE), Salia Iddrisu, for ignoring their appeals.

Key concerns include an unfinished bridge at Boachipe and the lack of progress on road repairs. Protestors, led by Mohammed Tanko, emphasized that their grievances were about safety, not politics, accusing the DCE of politicizing the issue and withholding development due to their voting patterns.

In addition to road safety, they demand clean water, proper sanitation, a functioning clinic, and improved school facilities. Despite contributing significantly to the local economy, the residents feel neglected.

The District Coordinating Director, Ali Bawa, received the petition, assuring the residents that their concerns will be addressed.
