The European Union Delegation to Ghana has extended its congratulations to Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Ghana’s newly appointed Defence Minister, following his official swearing-in by President John Dramani Mahama last week.

In its message, the EU reaffirmed its commitment to being a reliable and trusted security partner for Ghana. Over the years, the EU has worked closely with Ghana to strengthen its military capabilities and contribute to regional stability.

The EU has played a crucial role in providing critical military equipment, tailored to Ghana’s specific security needs, which has significantly boosted the operational capacity of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Looking ahead, Dr. Omane Boamah is set to meet with the EU delegation later this month to discuss the upcoming delivery of military equipment, as part of a €50 million package aimed at bolstering the country’s defence capabilities.

This continued cooperation is expected to further enhance Ghana’s security efforts and solidify the EU-Ghana partnership, benefiting both the country and the wider West African region.
