President John Dramani Mahama has officially submitted his first round of deputy ministerial nominees to Parliament for approval, signaling a key step in shaping his government’s policy agenda.
The list, made in accordance with Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of the Constitution, features prominent figures from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who are expected to help implement key government initiatives.
Among the notable appointees is Samson Ahi, who has been nominated as Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry. Clement Abas Apaak will take on the role of Deputy Minister for Education, while Gizella Tettey-Agbotui has been tapped for the Ministry of Works, Housing, and Water Resources.
Other key figures in the first batch include Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini, nominated for the Ministry of Roads and Highways; Justice Srem-Sai, for the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General; and Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, who has been appointed to the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs.
Actor-turned-politician John Kofi Setor Dumelo has also received a nomination, being named Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, while Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba has been appointed as Minister of State for Public Sector Reforms.
The nominees now await parliamentary scrutiny and approval before they can officially take their posts.
