National Security has seized a large quantity of U.S. dollars and local currency hidden in twelve 20-foot shipping containers during a major operation. The containers, which also contained metals suspected to be gold bars, were traced to a warehouse in Sapeiman, Ga South Municipality, following a tip-off.

Inside the warehouse, operatives discovered bundles of U.S. dollars concealed in wooden boxes packed with cement. Further searches revealed additional cash hidden in compartments sealed with plywood and charcoal.

Two containers are still missing, and security forces are actively pursuing leads to locate them. Authorities have also launched a manhunt for four individuals, including a suspect known only as “Alhaji,” who is believed to be the ringleader.

The operation also uncovered counterfeit Ghanaian cedi notes in ₵50 and ₵100 denominations, as well as fake military uniforms and boots. The discoveries highlight growing concerns over the circulation of counterfeit currency and illegal gold trafficking in the region.
