The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) announced on Tuesday that it has removed former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta from its list of wanted persons, following his communication through legal counsel stating a definitive date for his voluntary return to Ghana.

Ofori-Atta had been declared a fugitive by the OSP on February 12, 2025, after failing to provide a reasonable timeline for his return to the country. The OSP had instructed him to attend an interview regarding suspected corruption-related cases but noted that he did not confirm his return plans.

However, in a shift on February 18, 2025, Ofori-Atta informed the OSP through his lawyers of his planned return to Ghana. The OSP accepted this as a reasonable development, rescheduling his interview in light of the new information.

While Ofori-Atta is no longer considered a fugitive, the OSP warned that should he fail to adhere to his return date or attend the rescheduled interview, he will be reinstated on the wanted list, and further legal action will be taken to ensure his return.

“The OSP remains committed to ensuring accountability through due process and fairness,” the office stated in a message posted on its official X page.
