Bechem United has announced a GH¢100,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the death of Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong, known as Nana Pooley.
The Ghana Premier League club’s offer comes as part of efforts to combat football-related violence in the country. Bechem United has pledged the sum in hopes of identifying and capturing the individual behind Pooley’s fatal stabbing, which occurred during a match-related incident.
In a statement, the club explained that the decision was prompted by safety concerns, particularly for their team doctor, Dr. Achau, who has faced pressure from his family not to travel for away fixtures due to fears of violence.

Following recent court hearings, Asante Kotoko’s Communications Director Sarfo Duku confirmed that police had identified a suspect, a man named Brimah, who remains at large. Duku added that all those accused in the case had implicated Brimah as the individual who fatally stabbed Pooley.
Asante Kotoko resumed training on Wednesday, February 19, but announced they would not participate in any competitive fixtures until sufficient security measures are implemented to ensure the safety of players and officials.
The tragic incident has raised concerns over the safety of the league and sparked calls for stronger measures to prevent violence in football. Bechem United’s reward offer aims to help bring those responsible to justice, while the wider football community continues to mourn Pooley’s death.
