Justice Srem-Sai, the Deputy Attorney-General nominee, disclosed to Parliament’s Appointments Committee that his PhD program abroad was funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

Mr.Srem-Sai, who completed his Doctorate at the University of Leeds School of Law, focused his research on constitutional law, human rights policy, corporate governance, legislative review, and the intersection of law, poverty, and disability. He noted that the cost of his education was approximately £20,000 annually, with GETFund covering the expenses.

When questioned about the funding, Mr.Srem-Sai confirmed, “My PhD abroad was funded by GETFund,” and added that GETFund could provide records of his tuition payments.

In a separate matter, Mr.Srem-Sai reaffirmed his previous statement regarding a memo he allegedly saw recommending the discontinuation of charges against Dr. Johnson Asiama, the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, now appointed as Governor. Srem-Sai confirmed that he stands by his comment, but stated that he is unable to provide evidence of the memo due to his current position and his observation of it in his capacity as a private citizen.
