Ghanaian football giants Asante Kotoko SC have issued a strongly worded statement condemning journalist ‘Prof.’ Enoch Kwesi Wallace of Asempa FM for what they describe as “blatant lies, malicious distortions, and reckless fabrications” regarding the tragic murder of their devoted fan, Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as “Pooley.”

In a press release, the club expressed outrage at Wallace’s alleged attempt to twist facts, shield perpetrators, and insult the memory of the deceased. Kotoko insists that his actions are not just misleading but dangerous, unethical, and a threat to the fight against hooliganism in Ghanaian football.

The statement, signed by the club’s legal representative, Samuel Sarfo Duku, Esq., criticizes the journalist for interfering with ongoing police investigations, stating that his comments embolden criminals rather than aiding the pursuit of justice. Kotoko describes his statements as “reckless propaganda” and vows not to remain silent while dishonesty festers.

As a result, the club is demanding that Wallace submit his alleged investigative report on the matter to the authorities within 48 hours. Failure to comply, they warn, will result in legal action.

Furthermore, Kotoko has reported Wallace’s remarks to the Inspector General of Police, reaffirming their commitment to seeking justice for Francis Yaw Frimpong and eradicating violence and hooliganism from Ghanaian football. The club firmly states that they will not allow “reckless individuals” to obstruct the course of justice.
