Ghana’s government kicks off the highly anticipated National Economic Dialogue (NED) today, March 3, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre. The two-day forum, led by President John Dramani Mahama, seeks to address the country’s acute economic challenges and set the stage for sustainable growth.

Under the theme “Resetting Ghana: Building the Economy We Want Together,” President Mahama will deliver the opening keynote, outlining his administration’s vision for revitalizing the economy amid mounting fiscal pressures. The dialogue is designed as a platform for inclusive discussions, where key stakeholders will collaborate to chart a path forward for the nation’s economic future.

The event will bring together a broad cross-section of Ghanaian society, including private sector leaders, academics, public policy experts, and representatives from civil society organizations. The discussions will focus on several key areas, including:

  • Achieving Sustainable Macroeconomic Stability
  • Promoting Economic Transformation
  • Advancing Infrastructure Development
  • Implementing Structural Reforms
  • Ensuring Private Sector-Led Growth
  • Restoring Good Governance and Combating Corruption

With Ghana grappling with a deepening economic crisis, the government is hopeful that the dialogue will yield consensus-driven solutions to boost business confidence, improve infrastructure, and enhance the livelihoods of citizens.

The outcomes of the forum are expected to provide a roadmap for policy implementation, offering a framework to guide decision-making aimed at economic resilience and long-term growth. Stakeholders are set to establish clear commitments and measurable milestones as part of a broader effort to reset the economy and drive transformative change.

As the National Economic Dialogue unfolds, the country is looking for concrete policy recommendations that will reshape its economic trajectory for years to come.
