Former Ghanaian Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has accused National Security operatives of unlawfully raiding his residence, with the search extending to personal and unlikely areas, including his fridge, freezer, and kitchenware.

According to court documents, Mr. Ofori-Atta, who was out of the country for medical treatment at the time, had left his Labone residence under the care of his domestic staff. On 11 February 2025, a team of National Security operatives, along with nine armed military personnel, arrived at the property without prior notice or legal authorisation.

Mr. Ofori-Atta claims that the security personnel, who were heavily armed, did not present a search warrant nor disclose the purpose of their operation. The search reportedly covered all areas of the house, including bedrooms, closets, and even personal items like cutlery, plates, and car interiors.

Court filings state that the operatives scoured the entire property, including the fridge, freezer, and cupboards. One of the operatives allegedly filmed the search using a mobile phone, capturing footage of private areas of the house, such as bedrooms and living spaces.

The former minister contends that the raid violated his property and privacy rights, leaving his domestic staff traumatised. He further claims that the incident, which attracted national and international attention, has damaged his reputation and subjected him to public ridicule.
