Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to eliminating tuberculosis (TB) by 2030, calling for a collaborative, multi-sectoral approach to combat the disease.

Speaking at the commemoration of World TB Day 2025, Mr.Akandoh emphasized the need for decisive action, urging participation from all stakeholders, including government officials, healthcare providers, civil society, and the private sector.

The theme for this year’s observance—*“Yes! We Can End TB! Commit, Invest, Deliver”—*aligns with Ghana’s intensified efforts to tackle TB head-on. Mr.Akandoh revealed that the government plans to significantly boost funding for TB control activities, focusing on essential logistics, medical supplies, and diagnostic tools. “Under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, the health sector will continue to prioritize resources for TB prevention, diagnosis, and treatment,” Mr Akandoh stated

The Minister also outlined plans to expand access to critical TB detection tools, including GeneXpert machines, digital X-ray systems, and laboratory supplies, ensuring that diagnostic capabilities remain robust across the country. Akandoh reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to securing the necessary resources to address the growing TB burden in Ghana, with the ultimate goal of eradicating the disease by 2030.
