President John Dramani Mahama has rejected suggestions of hostility between his government and the judiciary, emphasising his administration’s commitment to collaboration with the legal sector.

Speaking to members of the Ghana Bar Association on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Mahama addressed claims of strained relations, insisting that his government remains open to working alongside the judiciary to strengthen the country’s governance.

“There’s this perception that we have a problem with the legal fraternity, but that is not the case,” Mahama said. He highlighted figures within his administration, such as former Attorney General Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, as examples of the government’s respect for the judiciary.

Reaffirming his stance, Mahama stated, “We have no animosity towards the judiciary and the legal profession. Our doors are open for continued cooperation.”
