Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has called for internal discipline and unity within the  New Patriotic Party (NPP), cautioning members against airing grievances in public forum .

Speaking during a visit to Kantamanto Market on Tuesday, Mr. Afenyo-Markin emphasized the need for cohesion and constructive dialogue among party members, urging them to refrain from turning internal disputes into media spectacles.

“We plead with all party members to remain united,” he said. “We should not speak against each other on radio and TV. Regardless of the challenges, we are one people from the same party.”

His remarks come amid heightened internal debate within the NPP as the party prepares to select a presidential candidate. Mr. Afenyo-Markin sought to temper rising tensions, assuring supporters that party structures at the constituency, regional, and national levels would soon finalize leadership decisions.

“Don’t be discouraged,” he said. “There are good and bad times. Elders will be appointed to guide the process, and ultimately, a flagbearer will be chosen.”

The Minority Leader’s visit also included an assessment of the recent fire that devastated parts of the Kantamanto Market, a key commercial hub in central Accra. In a show of solidarity, the Minority Caucus in Parliament donated GHS200,000 (approximately $14,000) to support traders affected by the blaze.
