The acting head of Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office, Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah, has been reassigned to the National Security Secretariat as a Technical Advisor, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Mr. Dapilah, a lawyer, had been serving as Acting Executive Director of EOCO, the country’s principal law enforcement agency tasked with investigating and prosecuting economic and organized crimes. His reassignment is effective immediately, though no official reason has been given for the move.

Government officials have not announced a successor, and the transition leaves a temporary leadership vacuum at the agency. A formal statement from the presidency or the National Security Secretariat had not been issued as of Tuesday.

Mr. Dapilah’s tenure at EOCO included oversight of several key financial crime investigations, though details surrounding his new advisory role remain scarce.
