The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced a major reshuffle affecting senior personnel nationwide, including Programme Managers, Deputy Directors, and other high-level officials, as part of an effort to streamline operations and strengthen the public health system.

In a directive issued by the Acting Director-General, Professor Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, the GHS said the reassignments set to take effect on May 19, 2025 are designed to improve coordination and enhance responsiveness across regions.

“This reassignment is part of a broader national strategy to strengthen the health system,” Prof. Akoriyea said in the official notice. He instructed regional leadership to oversee a smooth handover and ensure timely transitions, adding that the dates of assumption of duty must be formally communicated to his office.

The shake-up affects 13 senior officials, including regional directors, programme managers, and medical superintendents, reflecting a wider push by the GHS to align human resource deployment with the evolving needs of Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure.
