Mahama Nominates 40 New District Chief Executives

President John Dramani Mahama has put forward the nomination of 40 new District Chief Executives (DCEs) to fill vacancies across various districts in Ghana, according to an official statement released on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

The nominations are made under Article 243 of the 1992 Constitution and the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), as amended by the Local Governance (Amendment) Act, 2017 (Act 940). These legal provisions grant the President the authority to appoint DCEs, pending the approval of the relevant District Assemblies.

The President has now submitted the list of nominees for review and confirmation by local assemblies.
