On Mother’s Day, Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama paid a visit to Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, who is recuperating in the United Kingdom following a recent illness.

In a message shared Sunday on his official Facebook page, Mahama expressed support for his deputy, noting she is “taking a deserved rest” after her recovery and is expected to resume her official duties soon.

“A special Mother’s Day greeting to my Vice President, @njoagyemang, whom I had the pleasure of visiting earlier this morning,” the President wrote. “To her and all Ghanaian mothers, I say Happy Mother’s Day.”

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang fell ill on March 28 and was initially treated at the University of Ghana Medical Centre. Following medical evaluation, she was advised to seek further care abroad. On April 7, she commenced a three-week medical leave to focus on rest and recovery.
