National Security agency, in coordination with the police, launched an unannounced raid Thursday on the residence of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, a senior regional official of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Security personnel surrounded the Ashanti Region property in an operation that was ongoing late Thursday, though officials have not disclosed the reason for the action. It remained unclear whether Mr. Boasiako was at home during the raid.

Thedotnews sources  described a heavy security presence and rising tensions in the area as armed officers held their positions around the compound.
